IMMIMEET Community Standards

Effective September 30, 2025

Introduction

IMMIMEET is a global platform where immigrants connect, share their journeys, and build community. Our goal is to provide a safe, respectful, and empowering space where every immigrant’s voice is valued. These Community Standards are designed to protect our members from harm while supporting free expression, dignity, and belonging. They are informed by international human rights principles, expert input, and ongoing feedback from immigrant communities.

Our Commitment to Voice

We believe every immigrant has a story worth telling. IMMIMEET encourages open expression — whether through stories, photos, videos, or cultural celebrations.

In rare cases, we may allow content that would normally be removed if it is newsworthy or clearly in the public interest, and the value of keeping it outweighs the risk of harm. In these cases, IMMIMEET looks to human rights frameworks and community impact before making a judgment.

Authenticity

Policy Rationale

Authenticity builds trust. Members need to know they’re connecting with real people who share genuine experiences. Misrepresentation erodes safety and community belonging.

Not Allowed

- Fake accounts or false identities.

- Impersonating another individual, community, or organization.

- Misrepresenting professional or cultural affiliations.

Restricted/Conditional

- Anonymous or screen-name accounts are allowed to protect vulnerable users, but they must not mislead others or impersonate someone else.

Allowed

- Using pseudonyms or partial identities if needed for personal safety.

Safety

Policy Rationale

No one should feel unsafe on IMMIMEET. Immigrants may already face risks offline; our responsibility is to minimize risks online.

Not Allowed

- Threats of violence, self-harm, or suicide encouragement.

- Content promoting exploitation, trafficking, or predatory services.

- Content encouraging dangerous misinformation (e.g., false visa/legal claims that could cause harm).

- Scams, fraud, or misleading financial requests targeting immigrants.

Restricted/Conditional

- Sensitive discussions about trauma (e.g., asylum, violence) are allowed but may include warning labels to protect viewers.

Allowed

- Content raising awareness about harmful practices, provided it’s shared respectfully and in context.

Privacy

Policy Rationale

Privacy allows people to share freely without fear. Protecting privacy is especially important for immigrants, many of whom face sensitive legal, financial, and safety challenges.

Not Allowed

- Sharing someone else’s immigration documents, addresses, phone numbers, or private communications without consent.

- Doxxing or stalking.

- Exploiting private information for harassment, fraud, or blackmail.

Restricted/Conditional

- Sharing publicly available information (such as public figures’ profiles) must still follow dignity and harassment rules.

Allowed

- Sharing your own documents or personal story if you choose, with full control over visibility.

Dignity

Policy Rationale

IMMIMEET is grounded in respect for every person’s dignity. Discrimination, hate, and harassment violate the spirit of belonging we aim to build.

Not Allowed

- Hate speech based on nationality, ethnicity, religion, gender, immigration status, sexual orientation, or disability.

- Harassment, bullying, or degrading language.

- Content that demeans or shames individuals or immigrant groups.

Restricted/Conditional

- Content that critiques policies, governments, or institutions is allowed, provided it does not cross into hate or harassment of individuals or communities.

Allowed

- Celebrating identity, culture, and heritage.

- Advocacy for immigrant rights and equality.

Application of Standards

These Standards apply globally and to all content, including AI-generated material. Violations may result in:
- Content removal
- Warnings
- Temporary feature restrictions
- Account suspension or permanent ban

Serious violations (e.g., exploitation, hate groups) may be reported to law enforcement or authorities.

Reporting & Appeals

Reporting: Users can report harmful content or behavior directly on IMMIMEET.
Review: Reports are reviewed promptly using both AI detection and human moderators.
Appeals: If you believe a mistake was made, you may appeal. We aim to review appeals fairly and transparently.
